Jenny Huggett BA Hons
Head Teacher & Principal
On graduating from University with a Linguistics degree, Jenny went straight into teaching English as a Foreign Language, a field in which she has remained, in one form or another, ever since. She managed the Brighton office of one of the largest Language Schools in the private sector. Jenny also taught English as a Second Language in a state college. Jenny also worked as Head of Department for English for Academic Purposes (preparing students for the IELTS exam) at an Independent Girls’ School.
Not only is she a qualified and experienced language teacher, Jenny also knows what it is like to be a language learner herself. She is fluent in both French and Spanish and has CEFR level B2 in German. She has also enjoyed studying some basic Russian and Italian and has a good knowledge of Latin. Recently she has embarked on a Japanese Language Course, inspired by a desire to better understand Japanese culture and to better communicate with the delegates from Ashikita Town Council who have been coming on a study tour with us every summer for the last 7 years.
Jenny has lived and worked in both France and Spain, working as a Teacher Trainer for State School Teachers of English. She also ran her own language school, teaching both adults and children. In Spain, she also ran English Language Summer Camps for Spanish children.
Clare studied languages at University and after graduating spent time living and working in both France and Switzerland. She worked for many years as an international Conference Organiser and Personal Assistant before qualifying as an English Language teacher.
Clare absolutely loves the buzz of the English language classroom and is passionate about teaching this wonderful language to both adults and young learners. Clare also enjoys organising our activities schedule and particularly likes showing off our beautiful local countryside to our students.
